General Questions
When can I reach you?
No matter what time zone you’re in or traveling to, someone is available to help with every detail of your trip. We work day and night, in all time zones, 24/7/365.
Do you offer supplemental lift for aircraft owners?Yes! We’ve worked with corporate flight departments to cover supplemental lift, a backup aircraft when your own is unavailable. That might be a second jet for simultaneous trips or one with more range than the aircraft on hand. When a plane goes out of service for maintenance or another issue, we can often arrange backup lift on short notice, subject to aircraft availability. Fractional owners can also charter outside their program to use their plan hours more efficiently on future trips.
How do you protect my privacy?Your privacy matters to us. Passenger details and flight itineraries stay confidential, and we share information only on a strict need-to-know basis.
What are airport slots? An airport slot is prior permission from the airport and air traffic control to land or take off at a busy airport during a major event, when ramp space and parking are tight.
Learn more about airport slots.
What is the benefit of a dedicated advisor? From takeoff to landing, you’ll have one advisor handling the details and answering your questions, so you’re not starting over with someone new on every trip.
What makes Private Jets Teterboro different? We love what we do, and we want your charter experience to be second to none. Your dedicated advisor will work to find the right aircraft for your trip at a competitive rate, and we’re available for your questions with live flight support, 24/7/365. You can read more on our
safety and vetting page.
Where are you based? We’re headquartered in the Philadelphia region, close to several of the busiest airports in private aviation, with team members and affiliates around the world. From there, we coordinate flights out of your home airport through our operator network, wherever you’re departing from. Call us for a free, no-commitment quote on your next trip.
Who are your clients? We fly a broad range of clients with very different needs. A few of our specialties: private jets for leisure and corporate travel, air cargo charter, celebrity and professional sports team transportation, relocation flights, and non-emergency medical charter. There’s more we can arrange, so don’t hesitate to ask.
Do you offer shared flights? We’d be glad to arrange a charter with several people aboard, but every flight we book is fully private under FAR Part 135, the FAA’s on-demand charter rules, or the foreign equivalent. By law, we can only sell a flight to one entity. So if you want to put a group together and split the cost, that’s fine, but we contract with a single person who is the point of contact and takes financial and legal responsibility for the trip. Shared flights sold by the seat fall under a different rule, FAR Part 380.
Booking and Pre-Flight Questions
Are there any luggage limits or recommendations?
Every aircraft has a different baggage compartment and weight limit, and your bags are stored in the aft compartment or the nose for safety. Let us know your expected baggage weight and size when you book, so we can match you to the right aircraft. Soft-sided bags travel best if you’re trying to maximize what you bring, and if you have fragile or oversized items, give us a call and we’ll walk through the options.
Can you arrange my transportation to and from the airport?
Yes. With enough notice before your flight, we can do the legwork to help you locate and arrange ground transportation through a third-party vendor, whether that is a luxury chauffeured sedan, a stretch limousine, a Sprinter-style van, or even an armored vehicle, to and from Teterboro or your New York-area airport.
Do you arrange tours, hotels, or concierge services? We don’t book tours, hotels, or concierge services directly. Our focus stays on being the best charter brokerage we can be. That said, we’ve built relationships with various providers and can point you toward good options for anything you need alongside the flight.
Which airports can I fly to and from?
There are tens of thousands of airports worldwide, and each airport and aircraft comes with its own rules. Your aircraft may need a certain runway length to take off and land, and international trips have to route through an airport with customs. When we plan your trip, we’ll work to set the arrival and departure airports as close as possible to where you’re actually going. One of the real benefits of private charter is that you can usually land much closer to home than a commercial flight would allow.
How do I pay for my charter flight?
Please see our Charter Broker Agreement (Standard Terms and Conditions) for current payment methods and terms. The information below can change at any time without notice.
Payment is due in full at the time of booking, and we keep a valid credit card on file to cover incidentals on every reservation.
- Most clients choose to pay via wire transfer in order to accommodate a 5 percent cash payment discount.
- If you choose to pay via credit card (Amex, Visa, or Mastercard), the 5 percent cash payment discount will be forfeited.
How do I decide which aircraft is right for me?We will help you decide which aircraft to use for your flight. The variables that determine the best fit are the trip distance, the number of passengers, the volume of your baggage, and aircraft and runway performance. Our goal is to narrow the options down and send you a list to choose from. You can also browse our
aircraft gallery for photos and specs on the most popular charter aircraft.
How far in advance do I need to book?It depends on your routing and aircraft availability, but a private jet can often be arranged on short notice. Keep in mind that the further out you book, the more likely the aircraft you were quoted has changed by the day of the flight, so for a firm quote we usually suggest reaching out closer to your travel date.
What documentation do I need for my flight? The type of ID required depends on whether your trip is 100 percent domestic or international. International trips require a valid passport, and in some cases a visa. Domestic travel may only require a compliant identification such as a driver license. Any documents required for international travel must be shown to the flight crew before boarding.
What happens after I book my flight? You’ll receive your charter itinerary by email. It confirms your reservation and lists the travel dates and estimated departure time, the flight segments arranged for you, the aircraft type, and any other requests you made when booking.
What happens if there is bad weather?
Mother Nature sometimes throws a curveball, complicating a route with wind, rough air, turbulence, or storms. Before departure, your advisor watches for any weather advisories that could affect your schedule. The aircraft operator and the pilot in command, the captain responsible for the flight, have the final say over every takeoff and landing. They’ll work to avoid weather, though unpredictable patterns can still cause delays.
In-Flight Questions
Can I smoke on my flight?
Some people fly private for exactly this reason, so they can enjoy a cigarette, cigar, or pipe in flight. If that’s your preference, no problem, we’ll find a private aircraft that allows smoking on board. Let us know before you book, since it takes special arrangements.
Do the aircraft have bathrooms?
Charter aircraft range from 2-seat piston planes to 16-passenger heavy jets to 220-plus-passenger airliners, and generally the smaller the aircraft, the fewer amenities it carries, the restroom included (you may hear it called the lav or lavatory). Larger aircraft often have a fully enclosed lavatory with a toilet, sink, and room to change. Smaller aircraft may have a semi-enclosed lav shielded by a curtain, and the smallest may have a fold-up seat for emergency use only, or no restroom at all.
Can I bring my pets on board?
From teacup to large breeds, don’t leave home without your furry family! We’re very pet friendly, but not all aircraft owners are, so make sure to let us know about your pet before contracting. We’ll need to know the type of pet, your pet’s weight, and the breed so we can find a pet-friendly operator for your trip.
What is a qualified flight crew?
For every charter we arrange, the aircraft operators we work with crew their flights with pilots who meet or exceed FAA Part 135 requirements to fly charter. We also confirm that those pilots have sufficient time and experience on the specific aircraft type you’ll be flying.
What terminal is used at the airport?
At most airports you’ll use a private terminal called a fixed-base operator, or FBO, which is a separate facility for charter passengers rather than the commercial terminal. Most FBOs at the airports we use offer a lounge area, restrooms, and complimentary refreshments; some also sell fuel or house aircraft in their hangars. Smaller airports may use a general aviation building or have minimal facilities, and your advisor will confirm what to expect.
Who operates the aircraft?
When we arrange your flight, we search for aircraft with minimal repositioning fees at competitive rates, no matter where your trip starts, and we present you with options. Once you choose, we secure the aircraft and confirm the operator and tail number on your itinerary before the flight. The flights we arrange are operated by FAR Part 135 or Part 121 direct air carriers, or the foreign equivalent, who hold full operational control of the flight at all times.
Can I get Wi-Fi, phones, and entertainment on board?
Yes! By request, we can arrange a charter with amenities like Wi-Fi, satellite phones, entertainment and music systems, device connectivity, and coffee or espresso service. Additional charges may apply, and you’ll find the details in the Charter Broker Agreement (Standard Terms and Conditions). Just let us know what matters to you before the trip.
Will there be a flight attendant on board?
Some aircraft require a cabin attendant and some don’t. If your flight doesn’t require one but you’d prefer to have an attendant on board, that can often be arranged. Upon booking your flight, please let us know prior to the quoting process if this is something you require on your trip.
